These apple tartlets are just to die for! They are creamy, spicy, and super low fat and low sugar. Perfect for dessert with tea after a long day, and surprisingly easy on the waistline.
I would highly recommend using a spiraliser or apple-corer to slice the apples, but you can definitely do it by hand and create your own designs. Cutting the apples into chunks and mixing them through the sour cream mix would work as well.

Ingredients:
Makes 12 servings.
- Frozen pastry – 12 tart shells
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup fat-free sour cream
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon plus extra for garnish
- 1/4 tsp each nutmeg & ground cloves (optional)
- 2 apples (I actually only used 1 1/2 and ate the other half apple while cooking 😛 , but it depends on the size of your tart shells on how much you can fit in them.)
Directions:
- Pre-heat oven to 375°F (about 200°C), or as per tart pastry directions.
- Pre-cook the pastry shells – again as per pastry package directions (usually about 10 minutes is good, they are going to go in again once they are filled).
- Mix the sugar, flour, sour cream egg, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and spices together until smooth.
- Divide sour cream mixture into the tart shells. It should fill about 3/4 of the shells, maybe a little more.
- Slice or spiralize and core apples.
- Arrange apples (in roses or any other pattern your heart desires) by sticking them into the sour cream mixture. The sour cream mixture acts like the base or glue to hold them in place.
- Sprinkle your creations with cinnamon.
- Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes until done.
- Enjoy! 🙂
