Classic Canadian Caesar

Caesars are actually really healthy as far as mixed drinks go! So, unless you enjoy drinking your alcohol straight (whiskey on the rocks is a good low-fat alternative in my opinion), you’ll want a mixed drink that doesn’t make you feel like you ingested a ton of sugar in one night out.

Added perks: Clamato juice is actually quite filling and low calorie (even though it is usually high in sodium). Dill pickles, pickled vegetables, celery, or even a few olives (in moderation), are not huge in the calorie department either. ;P

Ingredients:

  • 30 mL (1 oz) gin or vodka
  • 1 tsp Worchestershire sauce
  • Tabasco sauce (to taste, I actually use 1 tsp but I like it spicy!)
  • 1 tbsp dill pickle juice, olive brine, lime juice, or any other acid/vinegar
  • 200 mL Clamato/Tomato juice (or as much as needed/preferred)
  • garnish: cracked pepper, celery salt, dill pickles, celery sticks, pickled beans, pickled asparagus, olives…

Directions:

  1. To add a rim: wet rim of glass with paper towel and water, place glass upside down in shallow bowl of celery salt.
  2. Add ice to glass.
  3. Add remaining ingredients and stir.
  4. Garnish as desired.
  5. Drink up!
